Hunting on the Wendy Lou
Our goal at Wendy Lou Reserve is to provide the hunter a challenging and rewarding hunting experience with the opportunity to capture a terrific trophy animal. Hunts may be conducted safari style, spot and stalk, or by settling into one of our fourteen blinds located all over our pristine reserve.
The generations of exotic game on Wendy Lou (and Whitetail alike) have never been penned or feeder raised - they live as if they were in their native habitat, roaming freely, grazing over varying grasslands, riverine areas, pecan groves and bush lands. Our resident guides are committed to making your visit to Wendy Lou, be it a day-trip or a long weekend, a single hunt or a corporate group, a memorable one.
Our hunting philosophy is one of conserving the health and regulating the numbers of our animals, where we always strive for a merciful swift clean kill with minimal disturbance to our growing herds. For this reason, we adhere to a hunting calendar and are also strong proponents of the use of silencers (we can provide them for your use if you so choose).
As our guest, we want you to set the pace for the hunt, but as an example, we suggest you consider the following schedule.
BASIC SCHEDULE FOR OVERNIGHT STAYS:
* On your first day, settle into your suite and meet your guide. Then head down to the range and site your weapon (Caliber of weapon required to be adequate to game hunted, as wounded animals are considered taken whether they are recovered or not).
* On the second day, rise early and grab a snack before heading out to the stand or stalk.
* Return to the Lodge for a hot brunch.
* After brunch, you may spend the afternoon fishing or at your leisure.
* Late afternoon, head back to the stand or stalk.
* In the evening, return to the Lodge for pre-dinner drinks, dinner follows and thereafter an early night is recommended.
* Each succeeding day will follow a similar pattern.
Fieldressing, caping, quartering of your trophy for transport is available for a nominal fee.
